What's the best makeup for your eye shape?

You should always know your best assets as well as the type of makeup that embraces your beauty. The following is a fun quiz I found online that also includes unique tips, celebrity eye makeup inspiration, as well as recommended eye cosmetics at the end of the quiz, once your result is shown. Below I included my results on this little quiz ;)

MY RESULTS:

Find the perfect makeup look for your almond-shaped eyes:

Your celebrity inspiration: Kelly Choi

What to use: Soft shades like grays, browns and greens help open up your eyes. Check out COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadows in Crystal Waters, $4.99. It has all the shades you need.

How to use it: Start applying shadow in a thin line at your inner corners, making the line a bit thicker as you sweep it toward your outer corners. Then trace along your top lids with eyeliner. Finish your eye look by applying at least two coats of mascara to enhance the shape of your almond eyes. Try COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Blasting Mascara, $8.79.

What NOT to do: Use dark, vibrant shades, because they can make your eyes look smaller, not more open.

Bonus: Check out these other tips to tackle any eye issues that might bother you:
To make your eyes look larger: Try using light, shimmery shades on your lids and a highlighter under your brow bones to open up your eyes. And definitely don't skimp on the mascara. One to try: COVERGIRL Lash BlastFusion Mascara , $8.99 -- it adds volume and length to your lashes.

-- $6.99 at Amazon. click here: CoverGirl LashBlastFusion Mascara

To make your eyes look smaller: Try using black eyeliner on your inner rims and dark, smoky eyeshadows to minimize too-large eyes. Check out COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke or Silver Sky, $8.49.

If your eyes are close-set: Use white or light-colored shadow (like COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadows in Snow Blossom, $3.19) on the inner corners of your eyes to open up the area and skip eyeliner on the inner half of your eyes.

If your eyes are wide-set: Use eyeliner on the inner corners of your eyes and dust bronzer (like COVERGIRL TruBlend Microminerals Bronzer, $10.99) on the bridge of your nose to make your eyes appear a little closer together.

Will surely keep this jotted down in my notebook. They have many options and choices depending on your eye shape and how they appear. Pretty cool! Go ahead and check out your quiz result :)

Monday Diet Diary #1 (Celery Salad)

So I felt like doing a diet post series every Monday. So what this is, is basically where I show different types of foods that are not only healthy and suitable for diets, but drop-dead yummy! I will also be doing posts where I go to cafes such as Starbucks and jot down yummy snacks, mixing it up with different options. As well as sharing my thoughts and experience. Including the Nutrient Facts and price. So the goal of this post series, is giving you a better idea. Since diet mostly bores all of us, whereas some of us don't even want to hear the word "Diet". It's like an open window. A delicious way of thinking diet.

Today, I'm featuring one of my favorite home lunches! Tuna salad with celery and boiled eggs. It's delicious, don't let the name stop you from trying. The celery is fresh and includes the water you might be lacking or retaining in your body. Not to mention the beauty benefit celery has. By consuming a good amount of water each day, it keeps your skin clean and clear as well as hydrated. While the egg delivers a good amount of protein just like the tuna. And it's a simple dish that you can prepare in less than 15 minutes.

You can mix it up however you'd like. Don't like tuna? why not add some chicken? Below I included the ingredients and recipe to this quick and easy lunch.

Ingredients:
  • Tuna (in this recipe, I use Solid white tuna)
  • Fresh Celery stalks
  • About 3-4 eggs
  • Mayonnaise (optional) OR you can choose Salad Dressing (such as Ceaser, Parmesan, etc...) [again, optional]
  • Shredded Cheese
To make this dish you'll need: A bowl to mix your ingredients in, good-cutting knife, and a pot to boil eggs. Once you've got all your ingredients, then it's time to start cookin'.

1. Since boiling eggs takes the longest, we're going to do that first. Take about 3-4 eggs and place them in a pot with water on a stove to heat and boil for at least 10-15 minutes. (hint: when the water starts boiling, leave it boiling for at least 7-10 minutes)

2. Next take 2-3 celery stalks, wash & rinse them under warm water for about a minute. Cut both ends first. Then take a good-cutting knife, and an appropriate surface to cut on and cut the celery stalks to pieces.  Once finished, be sure to add the cut celery into your salad bowl.(Picture credit below)

3.
Step three is the easiest! Crack open a tuna can, drain out the oil and add the tuna to your salad bowl.
OR
if you don't prefer tuna. You can always go with cooked chicken.

4. Time to check on those boiling eggs! Once you've let the eggs sit in boiling water for at least 10 minutes, remove the pot from the stove and leave it under cold water (sink) until the hot water dissolves. Start peeling the skin off the eggs. Take a knife, an appropriate cutting surface, and cut them to pieces. Once that's done, add them to your salad bowl.

5. Now you've got your main ingredients. Mix the ingredients together... You've got some optional toppings and choices. You can add Virgin olive oil with a pinch of salt, maybe some shredded cheese. Or you can always go with two tablespoons of salad dressing, or mayo. And Voila! You've got yourself a simple DELICIOUS salad!

Got a salad recipe you wanna share? Wanna tell us your experience? comment below and share! :)

100% Pure cosmetics

Reasons why to love Natural cosmetic brands? Because they use natural and earth-friendly (not to mention skin-friendly) ingredients. Try narrowing down those type of cosmetic brands.... Not much, right? I recently crossed by 100% Pure cosmetics' website, and found it interesting & exciting! If you're not familiar with 100% Pure cosmetics, they have tons of natural products, from cosmetics to body lotions, body washes AND they just launched their own skin care line. And it's all with natural ingredients. And not only that, but they use Fruit pigments! If you read some of my previous & early posts back when I began the blog, you'll know that I tend not to use so much products when it comes to skin care. I always go with the natural home remedies & quick fixes like drying lotion. But since it's 100% natural, I think I might give it a try sometime.

Like I mentioned above they sell natural cosmetics. Well for one, my everyday makeup are the basics: mineral powder (or tinted moisturizer), mascara, & gloss. And that's it. Sometimes I would add eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc. But in short, that is my basic makeup set. So far I've been sticking with the same basic makeup products. But now, I just HAVE to share my new top 3 faves!

Since I have very fair skin, I always go for a more tan-ish type of tone in Tinted Moisturizers, a tone that's just a tad bit stronger than mine. Or else, I'll look like the vampires from Twilight. We all know It's tough finding a good foundation these days. One that blends well, has the right skin tone, good coverage, and doesn't cause any break outs. 100% Pure tinted moisturizer has that flawless blending that I'm always looking for. It correctly blends in with my skin tone, and the best part is that it doesn't have that "thick layer of ew" that makes you look all cakey & fake, or even oily. Remember to spread it out so it can be absorbed into the skin. It has a great coverage and when applied it gives off a beautiful natural glow. It has a good level of moisture, and it's not scented. But If I did have to describe the scent, I would say it's a very light scent of sunscreen, probably the Zinc. It reminds me of beaches! ha! Don't all sunscreens do?

It lasts all day and I can barely feel it on my face. According to the ingredients, this product contains 100% natural ingredients. Below I included the list of the ingredients & pigments included in this Tinted Moisturizer:

Active Ingredients:
15% Titanium Dioxide
10% Zinc Oxide

Other Ingredients:
May contain all or some of the follow ingredients: Peach, Apricot, Carrot, Pomegranate, Cocoa Bean, Goji berry and Tomato, White Tea, Cucumber juice, Aloe juice, Acai oil, Pomegranate oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Rice Starch, Candelilla Wax, Extracts of Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Grapefruit seed, Japanese Honeysuckle, Goldenseal and Cinamon.

This tube is the size of a hand. From your tallest finger's tip, to right above the wrist. A lot of product in it. It's about $32, and worth it! They offer sheer to medium coverage. And you have many different tones to choose from.

This is a MUST-HAVE. I have concealers everywhere with me. It is, and will forever be, a must-have for me. This is perfect for quick fixes or whenever you need to cover up a small blemish, or a red spot, even a scar. Concealers are life savers at times. 100% pure Fruit Pigmented brightening Concealer with SPF 20  offers a good matte coverage. It blends in nicely without leaving an oily or cakey trail, and it goes well with foundation. It's good at covering up simple blemishes such as red spots, small scars, and dark circles. If you need to cover up big blemishes, I suggest applying a fair coat of tinted moisturizer/foundation first, and then apply the concealer. It lasts all day, you can barely feel it, and it's made with natural ingredients like all their products. It doesn't clog up pores as much as other brand-name concealers. They offer a good variety tones to choose from, has a good amount of product, $16. Overall, it's a very good concealer, great to keep in hand!

Like always, I save the best for last. So far, I've been through TONS of mascaras. More than you can imagine, from drugstore to brand-name mascaras. A lot of them clump the lashes, and since I have straight lashes, all I obviously care about is getting that curl and length all day without having to deal with clumpy lashes. One that's easy to remove. This is the Fruit pigmented black tea mascara. I use about 2-3 coats, and that's all it takes to get good results. It's really easy to apply and avoid clumping the lashes with the wand. It adds a nice length & volume to the lashes, as well as the curl. The curl does wear off a bit during the day, but you still have great lashes.

The bristles are perfect. They don't carry any clumps of mascara whatsoever and it separates the lashes while combing and curling them. As well as leaving the nice dark pigment. It's easy to remove, doesn't dry or smudge, and it doesn't stain your under eyes. The thing I hate the most is staining my under eyes with mascara! It's sooo hard to remove. But that's why makeup removers exist..

Before trying this, I was using Great Lash by Maybelline -in blackest black- and well it is good with pigment. It doesn't do a very good job at keeping the the curl or length. More like it sticks straight out, like llama lashes. It stains my under eyes, and you've GOT to be careful around this mascara. It could stain anything. So personally when comparing this 'famous' brand-name mascara to 100% pure black tea mascara, which one do you think is worth it? Sure you can probably find Great Lash for $5-$6 at a drugstore, but 100% pure beats the quality. It has more product than Great Lash, offers good quality, and on top of that it's natural. I'd rather buy Black Tea mascara than to stick with $6 llama lashes.

P.S. They also have mini mascaras! Perfect size for travel. Now that, is a must-have for a travel bag. ; )

Disclosure: I received a sample of each product. There was no monetary compensation at all. All thoughts & opinions are 100% mine. I am affiliated with this company.

My Latest Lip obsession!

Okay...I just can't choose between these two. But these are my latest Lip Obsessions!

Soft lips (in strawberry) is the everyday chapstick I wear. I would either have dry or chapped lips so I always carry this around with me... but only in strawberry! Since it's my favorite flavor. And these chapsticks are just $1 at any CVS or Walgreens, they even offer three packs with 3 different flavors. It's smooth and easy to apply, not that messy or sticky, it's long wear as well. Which is my first priority when choosing Lip products! If it is not long wear, then it's not that good in quality. And what I also like about this chapstick, is that I can wear a different lip product over it. If it's lipstick, the lipstick would go on first, then the chapstick. Because if you apply the chapstick first, then it will be all gooey and messy if you try applying lipstick over it. If it's lipgloss, then I would apply the chapstick first, then top it off with the lipgloss.

Which brings me to my second lip product obsession. NARS lipgloss in Turkish Delight. Before going into this product, I just have to mention that I love pink-to-nude lip shades. Which is why it makes this lipgloss one of my obsessions. It just gives a really sweet, natural, and creamy-pink look to the lips. If you pair this lip gloss with a neutral or smokey eye makeup on, it makes a really good match. I wear this probably every other day, whenever I have to go out or run errands outside of the house. If it's not at my local ULTA, then I buy it online at Beauty.com. It's around $20, which can be a lot for a lipgloss! But it does last a good 1 to 2 months, depending on how much you use from it. The wear is good, you might have to re-apply after you eat, depending if it's a big or small meal. But besides that, it's a really good lipgloss.

P.S. Soft Lips' also have tinted chapsticks! How cool is that? I'll write about it soon..

I have nothing to disclose

New Urban Decay Urbanglow Cream Highlight

Hey everyone! Okay so here's the scoop: Urban Decay's newest release "Urbanglow cream highlight" a very chic & flawless glow. In four flattering shades Brown Sugar, Wicked, Sin & Moonshine. Beautiful radiance, it's perfect for when you need to add that small touch-up during the day. The compact is complete with a mirror and the powder made from real crushed pearls. It's also handy for contouring. A must-have for the new Fall 2010 season. This cream highlight is available online at UrbanDecay.com, and will be hitting the stores October 1st! (Including Macy's, Sephora, Ulta, & Beauty.com)

I'd definitely go for the Wicked, since it's a shimmery pink, and I love pink shimmer! *Girl moment* I mean, why not add some color? It's also good to apply on the cheekbones

One of Urban Decay's popular tips for this product, and my most favorite, is this: If you didn't get a Good Night's sleep, you can apply a touch of Urbanglow on the inner corners of the eyes. It creates a fresh and youthful glow, and will hide that lack of sleep. According to the description it's not greasy at all, and you are able to wear it on top of makeup, that's a bonus right there!

Lady Gaga's meat dress (VMA)

And she's done it again. Surprised?

Expecting another awesome & rare outfit at the Carpet entrance of MTV's VMA, turns out to be a very raw dress (can it get any stranger?). Wearing a Franc Fernandez raw meat dress, Gaga struts down the carpet with not only a meat dress, but matching meat boots, hat, and purse. How does Gaga stand this dress? Besides the stench of the meat, I'm pretty sure the meat didn't come cold. You can see her glistening under the TV lights..

Not only was she showing off her meat get-up at the carpet, but she also accepted "Video of the year" award for "Bad Romance". Asking Cher to hold her meat purse, Gaga accepted the award, right when majority of the audience started realizing what she was wearing. The PETA team found this rather offensive, and considered this as "raw meat from a poor dead animal", and how "being under the TV lights for so long will start giving off a horrible smell and attract maggots to the dress." Holy cow, I wonder what it was like for the person who was sitting next to Gaga at the award show.

After the VMA's, Gaga attended a live interview with Ellen DeGeneres on the Ellen show, most likely defending her meat get-up and explaining why it shouldn't be offensive at all. "If we don't stand up for what we believe in, or if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones. Annnnd... I am not a piece of meat." as the audience emerges into claps and whooo's Ellen jokingly brings out a vegi bikini with a corn-cusk green & yellow skirt, and suggests her to wear this next time she decides to "pose with a bikini".  You can check out the interview right here.

Do you find this offensive? Or do you think it's pretty cool? Comment below and tell me your thoughts.

How to shop and NOT feel guilty

The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.  ~Erma Bombeck

Right, isn't it? haha, we're all like that. I'm like that, you're like that, she's like that.

We see a gorgeous outfit on sale. You know what that means, right? We can't let this go! So we try it on, and get ready for the moment as you turn around to view your spontaneous reflection in the dressing room mirror. You turn around and you love it! But wait, ... the shirt doesn't hug your curves the right way. But you just love this outfit, and you want to take it. I mean, it's on SALE and It's gorgeous! (and I secretly don't want anyone else to buy this)....Should I buy it?

Deja Vu! This scenario happens to all of us. Our instinct is always craving for something new, wanting this and wanting that. Well there are times that instinct should have no word in this. If you have a doubt, it's better to keep your credit card sealed inside your wallet and away from your "instinct's buying reach." If we let our instinct and imagination run wild in the clothing & bargain isles, who knows what we end up purchasing? which leaves us with the conclusion of guilt.

 A bargain ain't a bargain unless it's something you need.  ~Sidney Carroll

She just made an obvious point, right smack in the middle. We first came with a check list, better be sure to complete that check list before buying anything snazzy that will leave you feeling guilty afterward.

A consumer is a shopper who is sore about something.  ~Harold Coffin

Another little demon that teams up with our instinct. It's typical when your depressed or sore you just wanna get out of the house, so your instinct takes you to the shopping mall, what a surprise. And it's obvious that shopping does take your mind off things,  but not for long.  And to pile that up, you even have the guilt of buying that $100 black dress that was probably better off being left in the rack.

Remember, if you have a doubt about ANYTHING you decide to purchase, start re-thinking before you purchase that outfit. If something seems wrong, if your not all that crazy about the outfit, or it probably seems even a little tight, it's better to just leave it behind and find something better, no matter how awesome the price tag on those tight skinny jeans are. When you try out an outfit, you have to feel completely fabulous wearing it.

Be sure to also question the outfits you try on. Such as, where would I wear this? Would I actually wear this out? You have to confirm that this looks fabulous on you, and that you will wear this. It's a bad purchase if you don't wear it, especially if you think it doesn't look all that good on you. Because odds are, that that cute outfit you once thought of wearing, is now hanging in your closet rack, abandoned.

Something else that would happen is "I will wear this once I loose about 5 or 7 pounds". Yeah right! By the time you loose those pounds, there will something else you would want to wear, and so on. (fashion trends go by quickly) Been there, done that. Don't wanna go back.

You have to think straight-forward before buying. You spot some cute jeans, and you WANT to buy them. That WANT gets in the way. So remember these tips before your WANT turns into a GUILT of WANTING (and buying).   :)

Simple but Sweet

I'm thinking of a simple and sweet style, what do you think?

There are times when instead of wearing tight jeans, or a black slim dress, you just wanna be simple but with style. Something simple but sweet is what I aimed for when I created this look. A Black ruffled skirt paired with a cotton buttoned-back soft blue shirt, baby blue converse, and to add that sweet and vibrant touch I added a red flower headband. It's like a "classic day out, walking by the lake at sunset". Yeah, that's exactly what I pictured when I was putting together this outfit. I also imagined Taylor Swift in this, it looks cute. You can check out the clothing list and get a better look of this by clicking the Simple & Sweet Polyvore link above.

High waist pants - new trend -

cut-offs to flare jeans which then turned to skinny jeans, and now...?

A "soon to trend" High waist pants are coming in and not letting go. Whether your at work, walking through the city, or just hanging out with friends, the trend will look good. There are different types of styles for high waist pants. Some that end skinny, and some high waist pants that end with a flare. Always keep in mind to choose one that you feel comfortable with, nothing is worse than wearing pants that will bug you all day, am I right?

Check out the following photos of some popular high waist pant styles:

Very classy and casual, great to wear for work or when you're going out. The buttons are my favorite part. It adds that kind of different style.

Very comfortable with a sophisticated style. It ends with a flare leg. And honestly, this is probably the best pant style for work, because your comfortable and you have a sense of fashion at the same time.

Another great high-waist pant style. Starting out with high-cut corset style waistband giving a long, lean look. And ending with a slim (but not skinny) cut.

TOP 15 Beauty secrets & quick fixes

We're always looking for some beauty secrets, maybe some tricks to spice up our look or add a touch of sparkle. Well I whipped up 20 beauty secrets, check em' out and tell me what you think :]

1. Mascara is a must-have

One thing you should always have: Mascara. This adds some definition and a nice bold look to the eyes. A simple yet beautiful touch. Or probably not sure what eyeshadow to put on? well, 'when it doubt, use mascara.'

2. Erase those dark circles

One of the biggest common problem in women. Those dark purple half circles that appear under our eyes. This is caused by lack of sleep, or lack of energy (nutrition). One quick way to fix this? Concealer. Remember to pat the concealer on the under eye area [or blemish area] (do not rub, this stretches the sensitive under eye skin). Two great and affordable concealers you can try out:  Sonia Kashuk® Hidden Agenda Concealer Set & the Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer - Beige. (both have good ratings and reviews) It's also recommended to apply some Aloe Vera gel under the eye to create a temporary firm state, this also helps awaken that tired look.

3. A fix for Thin lips

Majority of us women feel the need to do something about our thin lips. There is always a quick trick, such as using a lip highlighter (a shade lighter than your lip color) then apply it and line on the outer lip. Another cool trick, says to create a "curvy bounce-off" looking upper lip: apply a good highlighter overdrawing your lips cupid bow.

4.  Kill that zit!

Zits and pimples can really get irritating! Especially if your only 1 day away from an important occasion. Don't let that drown you. Top quick fixes:  A drying lotion works perfect! a recommended one is Mario Badescu Drying Lotion . Using a cotton swab, apply a dab of the product (DO NOT shake the bottle, only apply the pink sediment at the bottom) on your zit (pimple or whitehead)  let is sit and dry (if you are doing this before bedtime be sure to rinse in the morning).

Another quick fix: "by applying a dime size of Aveeno's 1% hydrocortisone cream, and leave it on for a max of 2hrs." - Instyle (Fall - September 2010 issue)

5.  Create an instant smokey eye

For quick and beautiful smokey eyes: use an eye pencil (matte is better) it can be dark plum, midnight blue, or even a charcoal color. Apply all over the lid, and some on the lower lash line. Then to create the smokey effect, smooth & smudge it out with a cotton swab. (add some brighten on the inner corner of the eyes)

6. Mineral powder for glow

Another must-have. Just by applying some mineral powder glow, it completely creates a beautiful natural effect (without the cakey look of course!)

7. Take a change - add some volume

Taking care of your hair is primary. You can't get volume with damaged hair. Snipping split ends (even if it's just cm) monthly is a good way to start. Be sure not to add too much hair styling products, as this will damage your hair. And, volume boosting shampoo and conditioners can help add that body of hair back.  (Garnier Fructis Fortifying 2 In 1 Shampoo & Conditioner Body & Volume 13 oz. $4.30) great fix = healthy volumous hair.

8. Flawless skin

Flawless skin comes with care. That means choosing the right cleanser and moisturizer for your skin type, that you can use from morning to night, daily. Exfoliating once a week is a "must-do". This helps by removing old dead skin cells, and renewing the skin. Nothing calls for a healthy glowing skin than Exfoliating.

9. Tired of pores? then take the final step.

If you have large pores, and just want to shrink them. Then there is one way to go. Visit a spa and ask for a microdermabrasion treatment (a very good facial treatment. It will shrink the pores as well)

10. Small eyes? Make them look bigger!

If you want your eyes to look bigger, you'd have to stay away from dark shades. You can start out with beautiful and natural tones and shades such as sandy pink, pink, nude, dusty earth, and light brown.

11. Hard to remove waterproof mascara?

Majority of waterproof mascaras are tough to remove. A quick (and the best) fix  to this is by adding a few drops of Olive oil on a cotton pad/ball. Close your eyes and smooth the cotton pad over on the eyelashes, keep it for about 30 seconds, then wash/wipe your lashes clean.

12. Tangled hair?

This is probably caused by lack of combing after shower, or pillow case. It is recommended to use a silk or satin pillow case, since these won't tangle your hair.

13. You can never go wrong with a little blush

Really, you can't go wrong with a little color on your cheeks. Apply some mineral blush just a tad bit lower from the cheekbone. This adds some color & freshens up your look.

14. Moisturizing is your best friend ;]

Especially a hydrating moisturizer! You can never go wrong with these, this keeps your skin hydrated, smooth, and refreshed. (make sure the moisturizer is for your skin type. It should at least include some vitamins, and zinc. Zinc helps by protecting the skin by harmful sun rays.)

15. Whiten teeth with Baking soda & Hydrogen peroxide

The secret was revealed! I mean, don't waste so much money on teeth whitening treatments when you've got the answer right here. Yellow teeth are usually caused by smoking, drinking wine, coffee, soda, and juice. Anything that will stain your teeth. Baking soda & Hydrogen peroxide are two great ingredients to use for teeth whitening. Hydrogen peroxide eliminates bacteria, as well as decreasing the chance of cavities. And baking soda is the sparkle for the whitening ;]

  • Brush your teeth like you do everyday
